Rappresentazione di Anima e di Corpo (“The Representation of Soul and Body”) is one of the most significant works of the late Renaissance and early Baroque eras — a pioneering sacred opera by Italian composer Emilio de’ Cavalieri. First performed in Rome in 1600, it is considered one of the earliest surviving examples of opera or oratorio, predating Monteverdi’s Orfeo.
